Level 2: Let’s Get You Playing Chords (Songs), Like Now!

One of the most important parts of playing the guitar is learning how to play chords. In Level 2, you’ll learn your D major, A major, E minor, C major, F major, and G major chords. You’ll also learn how to play power chords so you can play all over the guitar neck. With those chords under your belt, you’ll be able to start diving into learning songs.

Level 3: Let’s Get Rockin’ With Rhythm!

Now that you have some chords together, you’ll need to learn some strum patterns. Level 3 will show you some essential strum patterns that you can use for any tune. We’ll cover a few styles of music so you can feel confident in strumming along to your favourite tunes.

Being able to read tabs and chord charts is an important skill to have. In Level 4, we will go over how you can interpret tabs and chord charts you find so you can get into playing your favourite songs. We’ll learn a few tunes along the way and we’ll unlock the fretboard by introducing you to the capo.

Level 5: Time To Get Fancy: Add Colour To Your Chords!!

It’s time to get fancy with your chords. Level 5 will show you how to add some colour so you can really take your chords to the next level. We’ll learn “A”, “E”, “D”, and “C” style colour chords as well as a few extras to add to your chord vocabulary. With these chords you can really add some style and excitement to your guitar playing.

Level 6: You Can Start Soloing, Like Now!

You’re now ready to play your first guitar solo! We’ll keep working on getting your fretboard knowledge stronger by teaching you how to find notes and their octaves using your fret markers. Level 6 will show you some scales you can use to solo as well as building your speed using alternate picking. By the end of this level, you’ll be able to take a guitar solo confidently just by knowing the key of the song!

Level 7: Don’t Be Afraid Of Bar Chords… Embrace Them!

One of the biggest hurdles on the guitar is learning how to play bar chords. In Level 7, Kent will teach you how to approach bar chords so you can play them with ease. You’ll learn some tricks to get your bar chords to ring out, play both E and A style bar chords, and be able to play them anywhere on the guitar neck. The end of the level, we’ll go through a bar chord bootcamp so you can strengthen your fingers and put your bar chords into practice. After going through level 7, you won’t be afraid of bar chords anymore.

Expressive techniques can really add a ton of emotion and energy to your playing. Level 8 will explore techniques like legato, sliding, bending, muting, and vibrato so you can make your playing more unique. We will also explore how to read these techniques in tablature so you can sound authentic the next time you learn a new song. You will also begin to explore dynamics and how they can add excitement and power to your playing. This Level will give you all the intangible skills so you can take your guitar playing to the next level.
